World Series Final Game Captures Over 50 Million Viewers Across the US, Canada and Japan Regions.

The thrilling extended clash that saw the Dodgers overcome the Toronto Blue Jays 5-4 attracted a aggregate over 50 million viewers in the US, Canada, and Japanese markets. Major League Baseball announced this marks the highest-rated Fall Classic Game 7 since the 1991 contest featuring the Twins and Braves.

Television Ratings Breakdown

The Saturday epic game averaged 27.33 million audience members on Fox networks, Fox Deportes and their digital services. According to ratings data, it was the second highest-rated program of the week.

It also is the top-rated World Series game after the 2017 final game involving the Los Angeles Dodgers and Astros, which drew over 29 million. This represents a sixteen percent increase compared to the last finale between the Nationals and Astros, which drew 23.19 million viewers.

In the Nielsen ratings, the sixth game placed fourth, Game 4 was 7th, the fifth game came in 8th, and the third game finished in 13th position.

Global Viewership Numbers

In the Canadian market, the game drew over 11 million viewers on the Sportsnet network and the French TVA Sports channel. This was the most-watched English broadcast in the country since the 2010 Winter Olympics.

In the Japanese market, where the deciding contest began at 9 PM in the local time zone, it attracted 12M. This followed the previous Friday’s Game 6 – in which World Series MVP Yoshinobu Yamamoto gave up a single run in six frames – drew 13.1M spectators, making it the most-watched World Series matchup on a sole broadcaster in the country.

Overall Totals and Patterns

The entire seven-game series recorded 15.71M viewers on the Fox network, a two percent increase from the previous year’s Dodgers-Yankees matchup. This represents the initial instance since 2015 and 2016 that the World Series has seen audience growth for two straight seasons.

Including the Game 1 telecast on the Univision network, the total US average reached 16.1 million. The overall Fall Classic average in Japan was 9.7M and 8.1M in the Canadian market.

The complete playoffs on Fox, FS1 and FS2 drew 8.09M viewers, an eight percent increase compared to the previous year and Fox’s strongest postseason ratings after 2017.

MLB stated that the World Series was televised in over 200 nations and regions by 44 media partners in 16 different languages.
